MVRDV Vertical Village: Visualizing Urban Densification in East Asia
It is often interesting to note how architects solve the problem of communicating complex information. The Vertical Village [jut-arts.org.tw] by Dutch architectural office MVRDV, explores the rapid urban transformation in East Asia. In particular, it proposes how the qualities of urban villages can be transformed in a much denser and vertical form, as a radical alternative to the typical identical-block architecture with standard apartments that exists today. The exhibition consists of the presentation of analytical research, a grid of physical models, various movies, software packages and a large installation that represents a possible Vertical Village.
